The Role
The Court of Protection has appointed Samantha Buckthought as Property and Affairs Deputy for a large number of clients. Our team support these clients to manage their financial affairs.
The primary purpose of this role is to provide high-quality administrative and paralegal support to the Court of Protection team, working collaboratively with fellow paralegals to ensure an efficient and effective service.
The role will support the delivery of all administrative and paralegal tasks in a timely, organised and compliant manner, aligning with the firm’s commitment to delivering an exceptional legal experience.
A key part of the role is to build and maintain trusted relationships with clients, their families, support networks and external experts, demonstrating professionalism, empathy and respect at all times.
What will you do?
To support the Lawyer with conduct of the file in the day to day running of their cases.
Dealing with client, deputy and third-party stake holder queries and correspondence, progressing matters and ensuring excellent standards of service to clients are met at all times.
Attend client and deputy meetings, preparing clear, accurate and comprehensive attendance notes.
Liaise effectively with clients, solicitors and other professionals via telephone and email.
Responsible for diarising due dates, tasks and reminders.
Maintain accurate diaries, ensuring all key dates, deadlines and tasks are recorded and complied with.
Draft a range of legal documents, including Court of Protection applications, general court documents and benefit applications.
Prepare and assist with annual deputyship reports for submission to the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG).
Communicate with and instruct appropriate tradespeople and external providers as required.
Obtain and assess quotations to ensure value for money and suitability.
Undertake property visits where required, providing written reports and raising any concerns.
Review, organise and collate documentation to support case progression.
Manage a varied workload effectively, prioritising tasks to meet deadlines.
Maintain accurate, up-to-date and compliant electronic case files in accordance with firm procedures and regulatory requirements.
You will be based at our offices on North Hill with potential to work from home part of the week subject to training and business need.

Hours – Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm
